Since the candle filter can form a uniform cake layer during re-filtration, the cake can be easily washed by passing washing liquid into the machine. If the cake is washed by means of a top spray, the washing solution can be saved considerably. If the candle filter is to obtain a dry cake, the machine is fed with room temperature air, hot air or steam after filtration or washing and filtration, and they are passed through the cake layer until the cake reaches the required dryness, and then the machine is drained and the cake is discharged from the bottom by back-blowing.
