What is the working principle of backwashing filter

Self-cleaning filter is a filter that directly intercepts impurities in water, removes suspended solids and particles from water bodies, reduces turbidity, purifies water, and reduces system dirt, bacteria, algae, rust, etc. It purifies the water and protects other equipment in the system.

The main components of self-cleaning filter are: motor, electric control box, control pipeline, main tube assembly, filter element assembly, 316L stainless steel brush, frame assembly, transmission shaft, import and export connection flange, etc.

Self-cleaning filter overcomes many shortcomings of traditional filtration products, such as small dirt-holding capacity, easy to be clogged by dirt, the filter part needs to be disassembled and cleaned and the filter status cannot be monitored.

Self-cleaning filter working principle.

Water enters through the inlet, first passes through the coarse filter to filter out the larger impurity particles, and then reaches the fine filter. During the filtration process, the fine filter gradually accumulates dust and impurities in the water, forming a filter impurity layer. Since the impurity layer accumulates inside the microfilter, a pressure difference is formed between the inside and outside of the microfilter.

When the differential pressure of the filter reaches a preset value, the automatic cleaning process will start. During this time, the cleaning water source flows continuously, the cleaning valve opens and the water pressure in the cleaning chamber and the sewage suction unit drops significantly across the filter cartridge and the suction tube. Due to the pressure difference, a suction force is generated between the nozzle and the cleaning chamber, thus creating a suction process. At the same time, the motor drives the suction tube in a spiral motion along the axial direction. The combination of the axial and rotational movements of the suction cleaner completely cleans the entire inner surface of the filter. The entire flushing process takes only tens of seconds. At the end of cleaning, the drain valve is closed. The filter is ready for the next flushing cycle.


Self-cleaning filter characteristics.

The backwash is carried out without interruption of water supply and the whole backwash is realized in such a way that the suction nozzles net each point of the screen. During backwashing, only a small local pressure change occurs between the suction nozzle and the fine screen, and the action of the collector and hydraulic cylinder does not affect the normal water supply. At the same time, the amount of water consumed during backwashing is very small. Take a filter with a flow rate of 300 m3/h. as an example: the backwashing flow rate is 35-40 m3/h, the backwashing time is 7-15 seconds, and the backwashing water volume is 80-160L.
